Sophie and the Avocado

(by Cory)

Sophie has a history of being interested in weird and random objects. She's obsessed with lids. Any lids. Lids to markers, chapstick, bottles, toy teapots, etc. She has two Leap Frog DVDs that hasn't watched - she just likes holding the cases. For a while, she needed about 7 different objects to go to sleep at night - including a toy Diego, an Aerobie (that she calls a Frisbee), a Rubik's cube, little dot stickers, a circular purple puzzle piece, and other objects. She just takes a shine to something, and doesn't let it go. Observe her latest interest:

She became interested, I guess, when we bought an avocado once a week, every week, for about a month (to make some scrumptious guacamole!). I thought it was just hilarious how she said it (ah-ah-ba-ta-ta-no), and she just fell in love with the "alligator pear". She even wanted to take it on the toilet with her when she sits on the potty.

She also likes Rubik's cubes. She calls the 3x3 "Sophie's cube" and the 4x4 "Daddy's cube". She likes to mess them up and make a big stink about how messed up they are, saying "Oh no! Daddy's cube is all messed up!".

(She's looks awfully glum, but she's not - she's got Daddy's cube and her avocado - what more could she want?)

Lol the 3x3 was enough patterns for me to learn - can't imagine what the 4x4 is like.
