Sophie made her daddy a card (with a little help from yours truly) with her and Sienna's hands traced onto paper and cut out. She helped me glue chocolate bars/candy onto her present to him:
I wrapped Cory's presents all cute-like with the help from my friend Stacey. Without her help I wouldn't have had the time and would have wrapped them in plastic bags or newspaper or something!
We played Cory's Birthday Jeopardy because all his presents belonged to different categories so he had to answer a trivia question related to the category before he could open his gift. Yes, a little cheesy and elaborate for the little time I had but it was fun and it made present-opening last a little longer.
The part of his birthday that took the LOOOOONGEST was making his "tasty fakes". His what-? you ask? Well that is our term (appropriately stolen from an episode of the Simpsons) for food that looks like other food, namely tasty food. So in our case, Cory asked for tasty fakes for his birthday cake. So I made him cupcakes that looked like other food: cheeseburgers and fries, spaghetti and meatballs, and sushi. I was up until after midnight the night before finishing these things, it took a lot longer than I anticipated. Oh well, they turned out pretty good! And tasted good too.
For those wondering what the pieces are made of, the spaghetti and meatballs are cupcakes with frosting and ferrero rocher chocolates with jelly on top.
The hamburgers are made from yellow cupcakes with chocolate cupcake meat patties, frosting for lettuce and condiments and fondant for cheese, white chocolate shavings on top and a sugar cookie for french fries.
The sushi is cupcakes (or twinkies, shhh! I cheated) with frosting on top and white sprinkles for rice, starburst candy for the fish in the california rolls, fruit leather strips for the seaweed wrapping, swedish fish and fondant for the fishy tops, and fondant for the shrimp top. Whew!
Cory also got to go golfing this past Saturday with his buddies and really enjoyed that.
Happy 33rd birthday Cory! We love you!
