We haven't named them yet but the peanut butter colored one was the first we got, he's a male (had to take a look at his goods since we don't want to put male/female together!), then the chocolate colored one we just got today, he's also male. They don't really like each other right now, but since all the rabbits hung out together at our friends property we're assuming they are siblings or related somehow. So begins the Quinlan Rabbit Rescue Operation!

Quinlan Rabbit Rescue
Cory and I are rabbit people. As much as we try to avoid telling people that, it's true. We started out with one since we couldn't get cats (Cory is allergic), then it escalated to two. Which was fine. Then after getting the dog we thought we were done with new pets, since we are going to have a baby. Until we found out that our friends who live on this huge property had some domesticated rabbits take up residency in their yard. There were 4 of them, obviously not wild rabbits, living in their yard for weeks. Our friends have 2 large dogs who are going crazy with the rabbits around. Plus, they are eating in the garden of their parents (who happen to live on the same lot, different house). Then one rabbit disappeared and now there are 3, so we're sure they won't last long in the wild. We figured some irresponsible people either bought bunnies for their kids at easter then let them loose outside after they got too big or people just didn't want them anymore and just set them free. Either way, we decided to save the cute furry creatures from certain death. Our friends have some live animal traps and over the past week have been trying to corral them up for us. We are going to keep them outside in the backyard in a hutch (since they have been outside so long we don't want them inside...who knows what diseases or parasites they have!) . We've got two of the three rabbits so far and they are so tame! They are tamer than our inside rabbits, so it's obvious they used to live with people. We've cleaned them up a bit and we will take them to the vet to make sure they are ok. We're trying to see this as mostly a rescue mission, more than an addition of "pets," but they sure are cute! Calvin is in heaven! We have a pen we put them in to run around on the grass and Calvin wants to play with them so bad, he's excited to have other creatures around since he hardly sees the indoor rabbits.

Those are very cute bunnies. I want to pet them. It almost makes me want to go get a rabbit....but then I remember that my kids are not so good with animals right now (they kick every dog they see, even the baby). Thanks for rescuing the bunnies.
